Matthew Matt James is a North Carolina native born on 5 December 1991. Matthew Matt James is the child of Manny James, along with Patty James of mixed race. He has the Nigerian father and a Caucasian mother. He graduated in 2010 of Sanderson High School and furthered into Wake Forest University where he received a Bachelor's degree from Economics in 2015. James first gained popularity after he became a Reality Star in The Bachelorette. James was chosen in 2020 as the bachelor of the year for The Bachelor season 25, becoming the show's debut African American male star. The series premiered later that year. James was the best candidate for the job, as he is well-rounded, tall and has good humor. Rachael Krakconnell, who was his girlfriend to date throughout the season. James teamed up with famous professional dancer Arnold in 2021, to take part on season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. James and Arnold finished 12th.
